What's wrong with the diesel generator set not turning when it starts?

Troubleshooting method for diesel generator set not turning when starting:

1. Check the battery terminals, starting circuit, DC motor brush parts, electromagnetic switch and other components to see if there is any smoke, abnormal heat and abnormal noise when starting the diesel engine. If there are any abnormalities, you should focus on checking the working condition of this component.

2. Check whether the starting fuse is blown.

3. Check whether the joints of the starting circuit are tight, such as battery terminals, battery switch terminals and starter switch terminals.

4. Use the DC voltage range of a multimeter to check the voltage drop of the battery before starting the diesel engine and during starting the diesel engine. If the voltage measured before starting is less than 12.5V, it means that the battery has insufficient power; if the voltage measured is greater than 12.5V, and the voltage drops above 1.5V at start, it means that the battery has insufficient power.

5. Check whether there is any fault in the starting circuit. The inspection method is to use a medium-sized screwdriver to short-circuit the battery terminal and switch terminal of the battery switch. If the battery switch is switched on and the starter operates normally after the short circuit, it means that there is a fault in the starting circuit other than the battery switch, such as the starter key switch or The start button has poor contact, the circuit connector has poor contact, etc. If the battery switch still does not close after a short circuit, it means there may be an open circuit fault inside the electromagnetic switch or starter.

6. Use a screwdriver to short-circuit the battery terminal and the magnetic field terminal. If the starter runs normally, it means there is a fault inside the electromagnetic switch. The electromagnetic switch should be removed and the movable contact head and the two static contacts inside the electromagnetic switch should be removed to check for burnout. condition and whether the magnetic coil is burned out, etc. If the starter still does not run and no spark appears during a short circuit, it means there is an open circuit fault inside the starter. If sparks appear, it means there is a short circuit inside the starter, and the starter should be removed and repaired.
